6 tips against streaks on the windows
We have some tips to prevent streaks, even when the sun is shining, so that you can fully enjoy cleaning with the iZi-Clean cloths.
1: Wring out well
It is very important to wring out the cloth well. If there is too much water in the cloth, wet streaks will remain that become clearly visible, especially in the sun. But how do you wring out the cloth properly?
- After you have wrung out the cloth by hand, you can wrap it around a tap and turn it well again. Use the long side of the cloth, so that all the excess water comes out. Be careful not to use the short side, because then there will still be too much moisture in it.
- The cloth should feel damp, not wet. A cloth that is too wet will leave visible water marks, especially when the sun is shining on it.
This method keeps your cloth just damp enough to clean properly without leaving streaks!
2: Avoid Dust in the Air
If your windows are not properly dried and wet streaks are left behind, dust particles can settle on them. This is especially visible when the sun shines on the glass. You will see that it can even be noticeable the next day, especially if you live in an area with a lot of traffic or construction work.
Compare it to a freshly washed car: even after a few hours, there can be a light layer of dust on it, depending on the environment. By wringing out your cloth well, you prevent damp streaks where dust can stick.
3: Greasy Windows? Degrease First!
Streaks can also occur if the cloth or the windows themselves are greasy. This happens, for example, if you have previously used the cloth in a greasy environment, such as the kitchen. Smoke residue, cooking fumes or the use of certain cleaning agents can also leave a greasy layer on your windows.
Solution:
First wash the windows thoroughly with, for example, a dash of vinegar to remove the grease layer. Sometimes it can take a while before all the residues of old cleaning agents have completely disappeared. Keep repeating this method until the windows are completely clean again.
Please note: in some cases, a light haze can remain on the windows that is difficult to remove. Unfortunately, this is sometimes difficult to solve, but fortunately this is rare.
4: Use a Spray Method
Are you having trouble wringing out? No problem! You can also lightly spray the windows with water and then wipe them off with a dry iZi-Clean cloth. This prevents the cloth from being too wet and you don't have to strain your hands when wringing out. This method is ideal if you suffer from reduced strength in your hands or wrists due to injuries or muscle problems, for example.
5: Spray with Vinegar
For extra cleaning and a streak-free result, you can add a small amount of vinegar to the water in your spray bottle. This helps to degrease the windows and at the same time ensures a hygienically clean surface.
6: Pre-wash windows
Are the windows very dirty or are there grains of sand on them? Then it is important to remove these first with another cloth or sponge before using the iZi-Clean cloth. This prevents any grains of sand in the cloth from leaving scratches on the glass.
This pre-wash method also applies to very greasy surfaces such as the extractor hood. First loosen the coarse dirt and grease with another cloth and then use the iZi-Clean cloth for the finishing touch.
Conclusion
With these tips you can prevent most streaks on your windows and optimally enjoy a streak-free result, even in full sun. If you notice that streaks still appear, try the alternative methods such as the spray technique or use some vinegar to remove stubborn grease residues. This way you get the most out of your iZi-Clean cloths and window cleaning becomes a pleasure again! 😊
