Short answer: soak a new iZi-Clean cloth once for 15 minutes in lukewarm or warm water and wring it out well. After that, water is enough for most jobs. Wash at 40 degrees without fabric softener, without liquid detergent and not in the dryer. Treat the cloths like a jewel: they are woven and therefore sensitive to sharp edges.
Below you will find exactly how to break in your cloths, how to wash them and how to keep them looking good for as long as possible.
What do you do with a new cloth before first use?
- Soak the new cloth once for 15 minutes in lukewarm or warm water
- Wring the cloth out well before use
This step applies to new cloths only. After that your iZi-Clean Wonder Cloth is ready to use straight away.

Soak once, then simply use
Soaking opens up the fibres so they absorb at full strength from the very first go. Wringing out well is part of it: a cloth that is too wet smears instead of absorbing.
Do you need a cleaning product?
Water alone is often enough. If you do want to add something, you can: vinegar, washing-up liquid or an all-purpose cleaner are fine. Leave caustic products such as bleach and ammonia on the shelf.
How do you wash the cloths?
- Sort by colour, because of colour transfer
- Wash with iZi-Wash Sheets
- Or wash with laundry powder and add a dash of vinegar instead of fabric softener
- Wash at 40 degrees
- No fabric softener
- No liquid detergent
- No capsules or pearls
- No caustic cleaning products such as bleach or ammonia
- Not in the dryer
The iZi-Wash Sheets are the easiest choice here: you put a strip in with the wash and that is it. Take a look at the laundry strips collection for the varieties.

Washing without hassle
One strip in the drum, no cap, no spills and no fabric softener. Exactly what your cloths need to keep absorbing the way they did on day one.
Why should you treat these cloths like a jewel?
Because iZi-Clean cloths are woven, they are sensitive to sharp edges, corners and rough surfaces. Drying a pizza knife or cleaning a rough windowsill can cause pulls and snags. The cloth still works perfectly well afterwards, it just no longer looks as good.

Rough edges are the only enemy
Knives, rough wood and unfinished windowsills pull threads out of the weave. Keep a separate cloth aside for those jobs, and your good set stays beautiful.
Why do we not make stronger cloths that can handle edges?
That is unfortunately not possible if we want to achieve these streak-free results. It is one or the other: a coarser, more robust weave will never reach the same clarity. We deliberately choose the result on your glass and your worktop.
How long does a cloth last?
That depends on your personal use and aftercare. The quality drops off over time, as with any textile. If you stick to the washing instructions above, the absorbing power is retained for the longest. If your question is not covered here, take a look at the frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions about using and washing iZi-Clean cloths
Do I have to soak a new cloth first?
Yes. Soak a new iZi-Clean cloth once for 15 minutes in lukewarm or warm water and then wring it out well. That is needed only once, and only for new cloths.
Which cleaning product may I use?
Water alone is often enough. If you do want to add something, you can use vinegar, washing-up liquid or an all-purpose cleaner. Caustic products such as bleach and ammonia are out.
Which program do I wash the cloths on?
At 40 degrees, without fabric softener and without liquid detergent, capsules or pearls. Wash with iZi-Wash Sheets or with laundry powder and a dash of vinegar instead of fabric softener.
Can the cloths go in the dryer?
No. Let them air dry, that way the fibres keep their structure.
Why do I have to sort by colour?
Because colour transfer can occur. So wash coloured cloths together.
My cloth has a pulled thread, is it ruined?
No. The cloths are woven and therefore sensitive to sharp edges and rough surfaces. Snagging and pulling is a shame to look at, but the cloth still works perfectly well.
