Streak-free bathroom: how to keep the shower limescale-free

Streak-free bathroom: how to keep the shower limescale-free

Short answer: by drying your shower off briefly after showering with a drying cloth, limescale gets no chance to build up. With a Drying Cloth of 60x40 cm and an absorbency of 800 ml you only have to pass the cloth over the surface once. It takes about two minutes a day and saves you hours of scrubbing later.

Do you also stand there every morning fiddling with an ordinary towel to get your shower cubicle dry? Or do you let it all dry and then go at it with a scrubber a week later? It can be a good deal easier.

What does that morning routine look like?

As soon as I step out of the shower, I grab my Drying Cloth M of 60x40 cm. I start at the top of the shower cubicle and work downwards in bands. Thanks to the absorbency of 800 ml I only have to pass the cloth over the surface once. No fuss with wringing out or buffing: the special fibres leave no streaks behind.

One pass, no streaks

Where a towel moves the water around, the Drying Cloth absorbs it. That is why you do not have to go over the same spot twice. Take a look at the Drying Cloth M of 60x40 cm.

What else do you use the drying cloth for?

After the shower cubicle I take the mirror along right away. No streaks or lint there either, and that saves another separate cleaning round. After that:

  • Wiping the taps, so no limescale spots appear.
  • Taking the washbasin along.
  • Drying the tiles where water has splashed.

On busy days I only do the bare essentials, but once a week I take all the tiles in the bathroom along. Because the cloth absorbs water so effectively, that goes surprisingly fast. You can read more about this approach on the page about streak-free cleaning.

How do you keep the drying cloth fresh?

  • Wash at 40 degrees with laundry powder or a dash of vinegar.
  • Do not use fabric softener or liquid detergent.
  • Wash separately or with the same colours, to prevent colour transfer.
  • Simply let it dry on the washing line.

Please note: do not use bleach or other aggressive cleaning products, and do not hang the cloth on the radiator.

Outside the bathroom as well

Windows, the worktop and the car: wherever water leaves streaks, the same cloth does its job. Take a look at the Drying Cloths collection.

Does it work outside the bathroom too?

Yes. I also use it on the windows, where it leaves no streaks, on the worktop in the kitchen and on the car, especially the windows and mirrors. For smaller spots the Drying Cloth S of 30x40 cm is handy.

Why does this routine work so well?

By drying the shower off for just a moment every day, you save yourself a lot of work. No limescale means:

  • No extensive cleaning sessions needed
  • No expensive anti-limescale products
  • No scrubbing with vinegar or other remedies
  • Always a fresh, clean bathroom

It costs me about two minutes a day, but it saves hours of work in the long run. And because the cloth is so effective, far more effective than an ordinary towel or a squeegee, it does not feel like a chore. A quick dry and done.
